Likewise, if you schedule a 15 minute visit, but the appointment lasts 30 minutes, you will be charged $140. If you know you can only spend a certain amount of time in a visit, please make this clear to your provider at the start of your visit and at the time of scheduling. We appreciate your consideration in helping visits to run smoothly, and allowing our providers to be compensated for their time!
INSURANCE INFORMATION
Naturopathic Medicine
Payment is expected at time of service. We are currently unable to bill insurance for any naturopathic medical visits or services, though we can provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Reimbursement for naturopathic medical visits and services varies among insurance companies. We recommend you speak to your insurance company directly to understand any benefits you might have.
Labs, imaging, and medications may be covered based on the benefits of your specific insurance plan. It is the patient’s responsibility to understand what labs and imaging centers are in network and the details of coverage. Please know that some tests may not be considered “medically necessary” by your insurance company, and you will be responsible for these payments. We are unable to order labs or imaging through Medicare or HMO insurance plans. We have a steeply discounted cash pay agreement through Quest Diagnostics and can provide cash pricing for labs if you have limited or no insurance coverage, or if you choose to not use your insurance for labs.
Acupuncture
We are considered an out of network provider for all insurance companies. If you have met your deducible, we may be able to bill your insurance and collect your remaining co-pay as determined by your insurance company. You must have a current insurance card for us to bill your insurance. If you do not have your card at the time of your appointment, you will need to pay in full at the time of your visit.
- Medicare: Medicare does not currently cover acupuncture services provided in our clinic. Please see https://www.medicare.gov/coverage/acupuncture for an explanation.
- Medicare Supplemental and Secondary Insurances: Our office may be able to bill your secondary insurance if it covers out of network acupuncture services.
- HMO Plans: Our office is not contracted with any HMO plans.
- PPO Plans: Our office is able to bill some insurance plans (e.g. some Anthem Blue Cross plans) directly as an out of network provider. Patients are responsible for the co-pay, co-insurance and/or deductible, or non-covered amounts at the time of service as well as for any charges for which the insurance failed to pay on behalf of the patient. Patients are responsible for the balance in full if not paid by the insurance within 30 days. For any PPO plans that we do not bill directly (e.g. Cigna, United, Blue Shield), we can provide a superbill that you can submit so that any potential reimbursement will come directly to you.
- Self-Pay: Patients are responsible for payment in full at the time of services rendered.
- Worker’s Compensation: Work Comp authorization must be obtained before treatment is rendered or the patient will be responsible for payment in full at the time of service. Once authorized, patients are not responsible for any service charges unless the Work Comp case is dismissed or denied.
- Personal injury/Motor Vehicle Accidents and Other Third Party Liability: Patients are responsible for the balance in full at the time of service. Any settlement you receive from your insurance company or other third party will be handled by you, your insurance company and/or your attorney.
- American Specialty Health (ASH): Some health insurance plans bill acupuncture through American Specialty Health. We no longer submit claims for these plans. We can provide you with a superbill that you can submit so that any potential reimbursement will come directly to you.
